Terms of Use
Effective October 21, 2026 · Updated October 26, 2026 (the camera, subscription lengths)
These Terms of Use (the "Terms") govern your use of the Billow iPhone app, its widgets and controls, and this website (together, the "Services"), provided by mntlApps LLC ("we", "us"), a limited liability company registered in Georgia. By using the Services you agree to these Terms and to the Billow Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority where you live if that is higher, to use the Services. By using them you confirm that you are, and that you are not barred from using them under applicable law.
2. What Billow is
Billow helps you keep track of how much you vape and cut down at your own pace. You log puffs by breathing out toward your phone or by tapping; Billow keeps a count, sets a daily limit that can step down each week, and shows your patterns and progress.
- Counts can be wrong. Breath detection works from sound and can miss a puff or, rarely, count a sound that wasn't one. You can undo a mistaken log for a few seconds after it happens, and you can always log by tapping.
- Figures are estimates. Money kept, nicotine avoided and puffs avoided are calculated from the numbers you enter (such as your usual puffs a day, pod price and nicotine strength). They are illustrations, not measurements.
- Milestones and health notes are general. Where Billow describes what tends to happen as people cut down, it describes what is typical for many people, not what will happen to you.
3. Not medical advice, not a treatment, not an emergency service
Billow is a self-tracking tool. It is not medical care, is not a smoking or vaping cessation treatment, is not a medical device, and does not diagnose or treat any condition. Nothing in the Services is medical advice. Stopping or reducing nicotine can cause withdrawal symptoms; if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or take medication, talk to a doctor or pharmacist about the best way to cut down. You are welcome to use Billow alongside professional help, but never instead of it.
If you'd like help quitting: in the US, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW or visit smokefree.gov; elsewhere, your doctor or national health service can point you to a local quitline. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
4. The microphone and the camera
Logging by breath uses your iPhone's microphone while the blow screen is open. Sound is analysed on your device and never recorded or sent, as the Privacy Policy describes. Use breath logging only where it is safe and appropriate to do so, and never while driving.
The mirror uses your iPhone's front camera while it is open. A photo you take there is composed with Billow's name and your progress, and goes only where you send it or save it. You are responsible for what you share; do not share pictures of other people without their consent.
5. Billow Plus
Logging, today's count, your recent days, your streak, the widgets, the reads, SOS, the mirror and the first Health steps are free. Billow Plus adds the weekly taper plan, hourly patterns and why you vape, the check-ins log, the daily tip, full history, progress and milestones, and the rest of Health. It is offered as a monthly subscription, which may begin with a free trial for new subscribers, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. From time to time Billow may also offer a yearly or six-month subscription in the app.
- Billing. Purchases are made through the Apple App Store and billed by Apple to your Apple Account, under Apple's terms. Prices are shown before you buy and may vary by country; taxes may apply.
- Auto-renewal. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period (a month, six months or a year, as shown before you buy) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. You can cancel any time in your Apple Account's subscription settings; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
- Free trial. If a trial is offered, its length is shown before you start, and it converts into a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
- Lifetime. The lifetime purchase is a one-time payment that unlocks Billow Plus for as long as Billow is offered for your iPhone. It does not renew.
- Refunds. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies; we cannot issue them directly. Paid periods are otherwise non-refundable except where the law requires.
- Restoring. Purchases are tied to your Apple Account. Use Restore purchases in Billow's Settings on a new iPhone.
6. Your data
What you log is stored on your iPhone, not by us, so we cannot recover it if it is lost or deleted. Keeping a backup of your iPhone is up to you. You can erase everything at any time with Settings → Delete all data.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to use the Services unlawfully; not to copy, modify, reverse engineer or resell the app, except where the law allows despite this restriction; and not to interfere with the Services or their security.
8. Our intellectual property
The Services, including the software, design, visuals, sounds, text and the Billow name and marks, belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's usage rules and these Terms. All other rights are reserved. If you send us feedback, we may use it freely.
9. Apple
These Terms are between you and mntlApps LLC only, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, which may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the app or your use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that it fails to meet legal or regulatory requirements, consumer-protection claims, or intellectual-property infringement claims; we, not Apple, are responsible for investigating and handling those. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. Where these Terms do not cover something, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies.
10. Disclaimers
The Services are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Services will be uninterrupted or error-free, that breath detection will count every puff correctly, or that using Billow will help you reduce or stop vaping. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so some of these may not apply to you.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or data, arising from or relating to the Services. Our total liability for all claims relating to the Services will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid for Billow Plus in the twelve months before the claim arose or fifty US dollars ($50). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Georgia (the country), without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep any mandatory protections of the law where you live, including any right to bring claims in your local courts. Before filing a claim, please write to contact@mntlapps.com so we can try to resolve it informally within 60 days. Otherwise, disputes are subject to the courts of Tbilisi, Georgia, except where mandatory consumer law gives you a different forum.
13. Changes and ending
Billow will change over time; we may add, change or remove features. If we change these Terms, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and tell you in the app if the change is significant. You can stop using Billow at any time by deleting it. Sections that by their nature should continue (including 3 and 8 to 12) survive.
14. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and us about the Services. If any part is unenforceable, the rest stays in effect. Not enforcing a term is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
